My name is Kristi, and I travelled from Australia to Cancun to undergo a series of procedures through My Medical Vacations.
I absolutely cannot say enough good things about the entire experience, and couldn’t have asked for more. My expectations were far exceeded!From the initial query for information right up to now, 5 weeks post op, the whole experience has been amazing and I’m so glad I decided to go with MMV!
As a resident of Australia, I had been planning on going to Malaysia or Philippines, but being an American ex-pat, I decided to look closer to my home country (I’ve now relocated back to US). I felt that if complications arose, my family would be able to get to me quicker and easier in Mexico than from around the world. Not to mention the cost is so very affordable. Even with flights and accommodation, the entire outlay was far less than my budget, and I ended up with spare funds.
Betty, my MMV liaison, is excellent at her job. She is compassionate, patient, helpful, and I honestly consider her a dear friend, that just happens to be my liaison! She is one of the sweetest people I’ve ever met. Daniel is another staff member with MMV, and he escorted me (and my mother who accompanied me) to and from hospital, helped with translation as needed, and is just the nicest guy you will ever meet. I also consider him a friend.
Ana was my assigned nurse, and an exceptional one at that – bless her heart, I don’t think she ever sleeps! She was my nurse throughout the entire process. She visited me every single day, whether in hospital or at hotel. Super-efficient and thorough, always compassionate and caring, and I never felt uncomfortable. She also escorted my mother and I to Walmart a couple of times to stock up on snacks and drinks (for when you just needed a little something), and we quickly discovered a shared sense of humor. Ana is my friend, who was my nurse, plain and simple.
Dr. Arturo Valdez is not only an amazing surgeon, but the most kind, gentle spoken and down to earth doctor I have ever met. Not once did I feel self-conscious or ashamed of my body and appearance. I was immediately comfortable with him, and that is really a big thing for me to say.
I have experienced almost crippling self-consciousness in the presence of medical staff many times in the past. He took his time, explaining everything, asking me what my expectations were, what I could expect, and I never felt rushed or like I was just another patient in rotation. Never the less, I am so very pleased with my results, and I am definitely going back in probably 12-18 months for further procedures, and I won’t go with anyone but Dr. Valdez. I mean, he came to the hotel 2 times to see how I was! I’m sorry but that just doesn’t happen, at least not in Australia or the US.
(And I don’t know when he sleeps either; he seemed to always be on duty. Dr. Valdez has one anesthesiologist he works with, and I am so ashamed that I cannot remember her name. I adore her, and I hope she’s always the one that puts me under when Dr. Valdez is doing his magic. Exceptionally good at her job, very caring and kind. She even came to check on me several times while I was in hospital. I’ve had surgical procedures before, and after being put under, I never saw the anesthesiologist again.
I was shocked when she followed up, but it just goes to show that she really cares. (Plus, I love her colorful style!) I have had good care, in both US and Australia, but the care I received in Cancun completely surpassed anything I’ve experienced in the past. Truly, I could not have asked for anything better. 5 star all the way, every minute of every day. I could go on and on, but I will end it here by saying that if you are researching locations and procedures, you really must consider MMVC. It is the best decision I’ve ever made, and I really feel like my life started over 1 April when I landed in Cancun.
I’m 5 weeks post; I have zero regrets, and am thrilled with my results, which are improving daily. Truly, it’s a dream come true.
