What Causes Pterygium in the Eye?
Pterygium is an unsightly growth that grows on the eye’s conjunctiva or mucous membrane. The conjunctiva is the white part of the eye, and the mucous membrane covers the cornea. If it interferes with your vision, a doctor may recommend a surgical procedure to remove the lesion. Usually, a pterygium is harmless and does not affect your vision.
